Symptoms post-COVID also known as long COVID are often related to the respiratory system such as losing sense of taste or smell, shortness of breath or getting tired more easily than usual, and may take at least 12 weeks or more to recover. However, additional studies have indicated that 80% of those infected will have symptoms that fall into 3 main categories :

  • New or ongoing symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest tightness, feeling lethargic or tired, as well as potential mood swings, where the level and number of symptoms vary from person to person.
  • Multiorgan effects as a result of inflammation to internal organs, inhibiting restoration for it to work at full efficiency again. Examples include the lungs, kidneys, heart and brain which may induce long-term side effects.
  • Long-term effects of long COVID are often found in people with severe symptoms of COVID-19 to the point where it becomes an ongoing symptom that could directly affect our state of mind including accumulated levels of stress.

Therefore, various systems in the body have to constantly recover from inflammations post-COVID where there currently exists methods to help speed up this recovery.
